Social care services

In this section you will find support offered by the Directorate of Adult, Community and Housing Services and some partner agencies and organisations. Most of these services have some kind of eligibility criteria. The information in each section should give you a clear idea of who can access a particular service.

Social Care

Search the topics highlighted in blue on the left for information about local services. Within each topic there may well be links to areas of the website put together for people with specific disabilities or other needs.

Support services

Support services is help that is provided to people to prevent them from becoming homeless or having to be admitted into hospital or residential care when it can possibly be avoided.

A support worker works with the person to develop a range of skills that will give them the confidence and independence to live successfully in the community.  The support can include help to learn how to maximise their income, budget for bills, cook healthy meals and access other services such as doctors, dentists and social activities.
