Community support visits

The sheltered housing team offer a community support visiting service for older people (aged 60+). Patch based sheltered housing officers, who are located throughout the borough, offer this 'floating' support service to people who live in their own homes but need a little extra support in order to live successfully in the community, on their own.

The service is provided if you are:

  • Are a resident within the Dudley Borough

  • You don't receive a care package from any agency.

The service is free of charge and anyone who meets the criteria can request the service. An assessment will then take place, which will include discussions of need and the frequency of visits required. A dedicated officer will then be allocated to the individual and a support package will be agreed upon.

Community support visits offer a ‘light touch’ checking service, they cannot help with nursing, personal hygiene or cleaning and shopping. They can however prove invaluable to those who simply need some regular practical advice, support and assistance and signposting to other agencies.
