HOMEHealth & social careCarersEmergency Support Scheme

Many carers worry about what would happen to the person they care for if they themselves could not provide care due to an accident or emergency. This scheme aims to gives you peace of mind that should something happen to you the person you care for will be supported. It has two levels of support

Carer's 'Peace of Mind' emergency card

Any carer living in the Borough and supports an adult can join the basic scheme wherever the person you care for lives. Complete the application form below. We record your information on the Dudley Community Alarms Service (DCA) database. We will then send you a card and key fob with a unique code number and DCA’s 24/7 365 days a year emergency telephone number. If you, the carer, have an emergency DCA will contact the nominated people to tell them their support is needed.

Carer’s Emergency Plan

In addition to the card Carers who look after an adult who is a Dudley resident can opt to have a Carer’s Emergency Plan. This will be most suitable for people who do not have other relatives or friends who could provide care if you were unable to do so The plan will set out the needs of the person you care for and will include an agreement to provide a certain level of support for up to 72 hours.

To access a plan, complete and return the form in the first instance.

See related documents below for FAQs on both the Card and Plan.

Note: Carers of children with disabilities can also have an Emergency Card. You will need to contact Children’s Services on 01384 815813
