| Dudley Social Services knows that carers have a very important part to play in looking after people. Our aim is to work in partnership with carers to offer practical assistance in caring and a respite period (break from caring). We recognise and value the work that carers do to support the person that they care for. Caring can be very rewarding, but it can also bring problems, like exhaustion and stress, financial difficulty, loneliness and isolation. |
We can assess your needs and those of the person you care for to see what help and information we can offer. When a member of staff visits the person you are looking after, they will be completing An Assessment of Needs. You are also entitled to an assessment on respect of your own needs. This is called a Carer's Assessment. A Care Plan will be put together with yourself and the person that you are caring for, as well as anyone else who gives support. The plan will show how everyone will work together and what part each will play in the plan of care. This plan works for you and the person you look after, and can be changed when your needs or those of the person you care for change. |
