Services for people with physical disablilities
The Directorate of Adult, Community and Housing Services has a duty to assess the needs of physically disabled children and adults. This is often carried out by an Occupational Therapist within the Disability Services Team.
The Childrens Disability Team is jointly commissioned by Dudley Social Care and Dudley Health Authority. The team consists of community nurses and social workers who work alongside each other, jointly assessing the needs of children with disabilities and their families and carers.
The Social Work Team for the Hearing Impaired aims to significantly contribute to an improved quality of life for Dudley's deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing population, to achieve their full potential and have an equal chance, as well as right, to be included as full members of society.
Social Care hold the register of people who have been registered either 'blind' or 'partially sighted', however, the actual registration can only be completed by an Ophthalmologist.
