Adaptations To Your Home

 

The Occupational Therapy Section carries out the assessments for all aids to daily living and adaptations.  Minor alterations are ordered and carried out quite quickly, there is no cost to tenants or owner-occupiers.  Major adaptations such as lifts, ramps and extensions are funded differently depending on whether the property is Council or privately owned.  The Housing Dept. fund and carry out adaptations in their properties, Disabled Facilities Grants are available to adapt privately owned property.  These carry a mandatory financial assessment and in some circumstances social services can assist with funding if people meet the eligibility for this.
