Services for people with Learning Disabilities

The DART Project

The DART Project is developmental and works with more ably autistic individuals aged 16 plus. The aim of the project is to promote independence, maximise potential, assist in achieving life choices and gain social inclusion. Alongside DART is TOADS (Triumph Over Autism Dudley Support) which is a parent support group for parents whose children have left school. Both DART and TOADS meet every Tuesday morning at The Bonded Warehouse for a drop-in centre where HFASD individuals can meet informally and foster friendship. Special Needs Register

The Dudley Special Needs Register (SNR) is a database of personal information relating to adults (18 and over) who have a severe learning disability and live in the Dudley Borough.

Referrals can come from individuals, families, professionals involved in the care of individuals and the Children’s Disability Register. The suitability of referrals for inclusion on the register will have to be agreed by a member of the Community Team Learning Disabilities (CTLD).

The data held includes a record of the services currently being used by the individuals and their families, medical factors and the abilities of the individual.

The information is confidential.

Registration is voluntary.

The register provides statistical information to planners and providers of services from the Directorate of Adult, Community & Housing Services, Health and Education.
