Fostering
Social Workers and Foster Carers are committed to provide a high quality service to Dudley's looked after children. The service is inclusive, flexible and good value.
The Fostering Team provides a range of foster care including temporary care for 0 to 18 year olds, and more long term foster care for young people aged 12 years and older. The service also offers day care and short breaks which includes arrangements for children with disabilities.
Dudley's fostering service pays all carers at the Fostering Network nationally recommended rate, which is age related to each child in placement. The allowances are for the child and do not represent any 'profit' element for the foster carers. Fostering allowances are not taxable.
The service offers three levels of approved foster carers. The criteria for progression is issued to all foster carers and is based on their skill and experience. Level 2 and level 3 foster carers receive a fee which is paid in addition to the fostering allowance.
