Residential care and respite

Dudley Council childen's services accept that some young people are unable, for various reasons, to live with a family. For this small group of young people, residential care in a children’s home is the preferred option.

Dudley Council currently has five children’s homes that it runs itself looking after some 35 young people. These homes include one short-term home and one home for young people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.

A manager and a sufficient group of care staff are employed in the homes. All of the homes are registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection (C.S.C.I.).

The service is managed by a residential service manager within social services.

There is a booklet available entitled “Everybody needs Good Neighbours” which details our aim of positively working with the community. Please see related documents below.

Referrals to residential services are via your social services district office.
