Direct Payments

If you have been assessed by Social Services as needing services then you may be entitled to Direct Payments.

Following assessment the services you need can be provided by Social Services or you can choose the services you need with Direct Payments. You could also do both; receiving some help from Social Services and some from other service providers.

Direct Payments is money paid to you by Social Services so that you can choose the services you need.
Direct Payments provides choice and control over the care you receive which will allow you to live a more independent life.

There is another Direct Payment. This is to do with benefits. Instead of using an order book to get benefits they get paid straight into a bank account or post office account. The information here is not about the kind of Direct Payments to do with benefits.
