Older People's Strategy
Providing services for older people is not just about social care or health; nor is it only about focusing resources for older people on those with the most severe needs. Services should promote the well-being of older people by ensuring that universal services are readily engaging older people in the active community along with specialist services being available when they are needed.
The purpose of this Older People’s Strategy is to provide clear direction for the development of universal services for people in the Dudley Borough. Please see 'Related Documents' below to view the Older People's Strategy.
To achieve the aspirations and delivery of strategy outcomes, including those of the Dudley Council Plan and the Government’s Green Paper, Independence, Well-being and Choice, we must have close working relationships across statutory, voluntary and community and independent sectors and, most importantly, older people themselves.
This strategy will address what the council, working with its partners, has done so far, and will do in the future, to develop a strategic approach to older people that goes beyond health and social care and covers areas that older people say are most important to them.
If you would like to comment on the strategy or you have further questions please e-mail Mike Marshall, Head of Commissioning for the Directorate of Adult, Community and Housing Services.
