Mobile Meals

The aim of the community meal service is to provide a hot nutritious meal to people in Dudley MBC who live at home and who have no other means of receiving a nutritious mid-day meal.

Community meals can be provided to those who are eligible either as a ‘stand alone’ service or as part of a larger package of care.

'Meals on wheels' are delivered to people who have had a social care assessment and who are eligible for the service.

The provision of community meals supports people at home by providing a nutritious meal to maintain people’s health and well-being and promoting independence and choice. We ensure access to the service is equally available throughout Dudley and can meet the diverse needs of the population. The meals service is able to provide meals to people who have special dietary needs.

There are also a number of luncheon clubs throughout the borough. These are organised by volunteers, with meals provided by catering services.

Payment

Most clients (90%) pay for mobile meals (meals on wheels) when the meal is delivered.  They exchange a stamp, which can be purchased at any post office, for the meal.

The remainder pay for their meal by periodic invoice.  Payment can be made electronically via the Council’s Call-pay system
