Weight Management Child Learning Disabilities Services (Seekers)

What is it?

Seekers is an informal and friendly child weight management programme specifically for children with learning disabilities. The service is run in partnership between the Office of Public Health and The KIDS Orchard Centre, Lye (a registered charity for children and young people with disabilities). The service offers a family centred approach to weight management and participants may be offered group or one-to-one support depending on their needs. Each family receives a personalised individual assessment, so that the exact needs of the child are established. Children are offered a variety physical activities and practical healthy living advice tailored to each individual family. 

Who is it for?

The service is aimed at overweight children with learning disabilities.

Where is it?

The programme is run at various locations with the Dudley borough. The requirements of each child and their family are taken into consideration.

Access

Each venue used provides full disabled access.

Please make an appointment to see your School Nurse or GP. Alternatively you can self refer into this service, (subject to you obtaining a completed health declaration form from your GP.)
