Use these pages to help access information about our Home Contents Insurance scheme. If you are a tenant or leaseholder wishing to take out a policy or if you are an existing policyholder who wishes to make a claim.
The council strongly advises all tenants and leaseholders to take out home contents insurance. You can do this either through the scheme arranged by the Council with Aviva, or by making your own private arrangements. The Council's scheme is one of many options available to tenants and leaseholders and you do not have to take it out; it is only one of many available insurance options from many insurance companies.
The Council cannot guarantee that its scheme provides the cheapest cover available, or that it provides the widest cover - you are recommended to seek alternative quotations and choose the cover which best suits your needs.
However, we do have further information about our own scheme available on these pages, and feel that it offers a high quality and value-for-money insurance product. For tenants to join the scheme they must be up to date with their rent payments.
