Halesowen Area Housing Panel – 12th August 2008
The Halesowen Area Panel has been elected to represent the views of all Tenants within the Halesowen Area.
Halesowen Area Panel last met on 12th August 2008. The meeting was attended by 2 Councillors, 3 tenant representatives and 2 Council Officers.
The following items were discussed:
Elections of Chair and Vice Chair
Councillor Robert James was elected Chair of the panel for the following twelve months. Councillor Ray Burstan was elected as Vice Chair also for twelve months.
The Chair thanked all members of the Panel and council officers for their contributions and support during the past twelve months.
Area Panel Work Plan 2008/09
The area panel members were asked to complete questionnaires on how they felt the panel has been working. The results of this questionnaire will be available at the next meeting.
‘Dudley at Home’ Choice Based Lettings Update
An update was given to the panel regarding the ‘Dudley at Home’ Choice Based Lettings pilot scheme which was launched on 13th December 2007 in the Halesowen and Stourbridge areas.
The panel were notified that the cabinet has now approved the roll out of ‘Dudley at Home’ to the rest of the borough during October 2008. Dates are as follows:
Stourbridge Area Office – 9th October 2008
Dudley Council Plus – 10th October 2008
Halesowen Area Office – 13th October 2008
Brierley Hill Area Office – 16th October 2008
North Dudley Area Office – 17th October 2008

Refocus of Housing Management Services
Housing Management Services are currently undertaking a refocus of their service. The first phase is now complete. More details will be released as they become available.
Gardening Initiative
A report was presented to the panel regarding the Gardening Initiative pilot scheme which is currently taking place in the North Dudley Area. The scheme, which has been undertaken in partnership with Age Concern will apply to tenants aged 60 or over or tenants registered disabled.
An evaluation will take place at the end of the pilot to determine whether the pilot should be extended to other areas.
The next Halesowen Area Panel meeting will take place on Monday 29th September at The Lighthouse Project, Halesowen.
