Saltwells TRA

Our committee was formed approximately 4 years ago. Committee meetings are held once a month, usually at the Woodman Public House, on the Saltwells Estate on the first Tuesday of every month at 7. pm.  Our Public Meetings are held at Dudley Wood Learning Centre, Dudley Wood Road, these meetings are always advertised across the estate.

Our Aims for the coming six months:
  1. To improve communications with the Council
  2. To work with the Police Community Support Officers
  3. Work to get more litter picks acorss the area
  4. Obtain more parking bays in Leabank Road and Heath Road
  5. Work with partner agencies to improve services and facilities across the area
  6. Obtain new Street signs
This list is endless and there are many more projects we would like to move forward, but we do need support from local people to carry out these aims.

Current Projects:
  1. We have now set up Saltwells Youth Club which is an independent organisation run by  members of the Tenants and Residents Association and other volunteers.  This is run at Dudley Wood learning centre with Monday nights being for younger children ( 8-12 ) Wednesday nights for the older ones. We are  always looking for extra hands to help out-if you are interested please contact a committee member.
  2. The group are working in partnership with several other Tenant & Resident groups across the area and have access to a Helpline Phone.  This phoneline is to enable Tenants and Residents on the Darby End, Saltwells and Bowling Green estates to report any problems or issues they have to the Tenants & Resident groups that represent them.  The Help Line number is 01384 831304.  We would like to remind Tenants that ALL repairs should be logged with the Council in the normal way.

BIG CLEAN-UP EVENT
We held a very successful Big Clean Up event on the 18th December. Local people filled two skip fulls of rubbish which has had a very positive impact on the area. Tenants from adjoing Associations supported the event as did Local Councillors and officers from the Council. Hopefully a further event will take place in 2009.

 ! News !
The group in partnership with Saltwells Youth Club have successfully obtained £10,000 in funding to upgrade the BMX track.  The money will allow us to redevelop the track which will bring it up to compitition standard.  This is great news for everyone.  Watch this space for further updates.

We would like to encourage members of the Saltwells Community to come along to meetings and have regular contact with the group - remember by working together we can really achieve great things.
