Cleaning
Cleaners are employed to clean the schemes communal areas. They are not able to do any shopping or cleaning in tenant’s own homes. If tenants have any comments or complaints about the cleaning service they should make the Scheme Manager aware of them.
Many tenants arrange for their own windows to be cleaned.
Service Charges
Service charges are made for communal lighting and heating. If tenants are eligible, then Housing Benefit will cover the rent in part or whole. Service charges for heat and light are not covered by Housing Benefit. Queries about your rent, etc can be referred to our staff but will be dealt with by the area’s Housing Officer.
Gardening
The Council’s gardeners will keep the gardens tidy on a regular basis.
Pets
The Council is not able to allow tenants to keep cats and dogs in sheltered schemes, unless the flat or bungalow has a private garden. Some pets are allowed in this instance as long as they do not cause a nuisance to neighbours.
