Localised lettings plan for new homes

Friars Gate (former North Priory) is a new development set to create a community and neighbourhood where people aspire to live and where they can enjoy a high quality home within a safe and prosperous environment.

Dudley Council and Bromford have worked together to put in place a localised lettings plan to ensure they deliver a well balanced cohesive community and provide much needed affordable accommodation on the new development, the former North Priory housing estate.

The plan has been developed following months of consultation with local people and former North Priory tenants to ensure the appropriate processes are in place and all the new homes available to rent are allocated fairly.

Of the 100 properties being built in the first phase, 56 will be made available to rent to people on the council’s waiting list through adverts on the council’s choice based lettings system – Dudley at Home.

Since former tenants were relocated, the council and Bromford have consulted with them to establish how many would like to return to the new development and a proportion of the new properties will be set aside for people who wish to return.

In order for anyone to apply for a property they must be registered on the council’s waiting list.

The localised lettings plan for Friars Gate is an addition to the standard lettings policy already in place at Dudley Council.
