The council offers a range of staff care initiatives to safeguard the physical and mental health of its employees. All staff have regular supervision with their manager and an annual performance review and development interview. A confidential counselling service (BACP approved) and a mediation scheme is available on managerial referral plus a range of stress management training.
A variety of flexible working initiatives are available including part-time working, job sharing and temporary contracts. Flexi-time is available where the requirements of the service permit.
Trade Union membership
All employees are entitled to join a Trade Union. The council recognises and works positively with trade unions.
Entitlement to sick pay is in accordance with national conditions of service.
There are set provisions regarding car allowances for use of your own vehicle for purposes of employment.
Loans will be granted only to employees who receive either an essential user allowance or a casual user allowance with an official mileage exceeding 1200 miles a year at the time of application.
Driving Licence will be subject to checking with the DVLA. It is a council requirement to have business use car insurance and a valid MOT certificate (if applicable) and to produce evidence manually.
Where relocation is applicable and has been identified as available in the recruitment advertisment the council will contribute towards removal expenses, legal fees, estate agents costs, lodging and incidental expenses, subject to conditions.
