Local people matter

Local people are at the centre of everything we do here in Dudley.  As a council we are committed to listening to what local people say, responding to what they tell us, being accountable for our performance and providing value for money.

We are dedicated to making sure local people get the best quality public services and are given every opportunity to realise their full potential.

We aim to serve residents fairly and efficiently so we can improve the quality of life for everyone and to do this we will focus on setting high standards for council services, making the most effective use of resources and building strong relationships.

To help achieve the vision, the council has six strategic themes:

Caring matters

The council wants to improve access and support services for vulnerable people to improve their idndependence and well-being and will encourage people to lead healthy and active lives by providing an improved range of cultural, sporting and leisure facilities.

Environment matters

The council wants the local environment - parks, open spaces and town centres - to be clean and attractive places to be enjoyed by everyone.  We will work towards a decent standard of homes and encourage more people to recycle and compost more of the waste we all produce.

Learning matters

The council wants people of all ages and backgrounds to achieve thier potential and ensure all children and young people are equipped to be succesful and able to make a positive contribution to society.

Regeneration matters

The council wants to create a prosperous borough where our towns are busy thriving places.  The council will support existing and new businesses to flourish and provide local people with the necessary skills to gain well-paid employment.

Safety matters

The council wants the borough to be a safe and peaceful place to live, work and visit.  We will work with partners to continue the reduction in crime, anti-social behaviour and ensurethat children and young people stay safe.

Quality service matters

The council want to build on its success for high quality cost-effective public services.  We will develop greater choice and flexibility for accessing our services with a focus on strong partnership working, best use of technology and improved productivity.

The council is made up of six directorates which together help to achieve the council's overall vision:
