The adult, community and housing services directorate is the largest directorate in the council employing more than 3,300 people.
It is committed to providing the best quality public services for local people and creating opportunities for local people to succeed.
We recognise and value the diversity of backgrounds, skills and needs within the borough and the directorate.
The directorate’s housing management, building services and housing strategy and private sector housing divisions are working together to ensure residents have a place to call home.
Services for people with learning disabilities and mental health needs are working to assist more people to have a home of their own and to enjoy a wider range of opportunities in their local community. While we enable older people and people with physical disabilities to choose activities and care designed to their individual needs.
Our support for reading and learning and our collective history are available for everyone to enjoy in libraries, archives and adult learning.
