Dudley Children's Residential Resources
Dudley MBC maintains six residential homes for young people. We employ staff with varying ranges of experience and qualifications.
 
Community Teams Learning Disabilities
The Community Learning Disability Teams are responsible for the assessment and community care management of Adults with Learning Disabilities. The teams are multidisciplinary and comprise of a Social Worker, a Community Nurse and an Assistant Care Co-ordinator.

Disability Services are made up of a wide range of teams including Physical Disability, Visual Impairment, Integrated Living and many more.
 
Learning Disability Day Opportunities
Day Opportunities for adults with a learning disability within Dudley MBC have traditionally operated from four Social Education Centres, based across the Borough, and an Employment Preparation Unit at Coseley.
 
Mental Health Social Work
The operational teams in the mainstream Mental Health Services are based in six multi-disciplinary settings. These consist of five Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) comprising of Social Workers, Assistant Care Co-ordinators, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists. Consultant Psychiatrists are based at Bushey Fields Hospital, Dudley, but are an integral part of each team. The sixth team is also hospitalbased, providing a service to the elderly mentally ill across the borough.
 
Occupational Therapy
There are currently vacancies within the Occupational Therapy Service at Social Services, Dudley MBC. This would involve working in a community setting with individuals of all ages and with a wide range of physical disabilities.
 
Adult Care/Older People Social Work Teams
Adult Care/Older Persons Social Work Teams are responsible for assessment and community care management of Adults. They work in partnership with Health and other agencies, to arrange services to meet the assessed Social Care needs of adults living in Dudley and seek to enable them to live as safe, fulfilling and independent lives as possible in home of their choice.
 
Becoming a qualified social worker
Social Work training has changed to reflect the complex and specialist nature of the work. For most people wanting to enter social work the qualification will be a three year degree, though there are alternative arrangements for graduates
