Specialist Teaching

Intensive Learning Unit (ILU)

The ILU is a KS2 teaching unit based at St. James’s CE Primary School which can accommodate 16 pupils (4 groups of 4 pupils). Pupils attend on a part-time basis, one morning and one afternoon each week. Pupils are generally at Special Educational Needs Support (SENS) level of the SENDCOP (2015) and are recognized by Specialist Teachers within the Learning Support Service as having a high probability of Specific Learning Difficulties/Dyslexia rather than general learning difficulties. Please see the ILU Policy for more detailed information about the operation of this service or download the ILU Brochure for a brief summary.
