Youth Pledge

Dudley Youth Service worked with young people to develop a Youth Pledge. The pledge provides a young-person led agreement between young people in Dudley and the Youth Service, and identifies the elements of a quality youth service that young people can expect from us, and which we will be expected to deliver.

The pledge has been adopted by all of the youth services centres and projects and is monitored regularly by young people through our annual peer inspection process.

The Youth Pledge outlines the following entitlements for young people:

  • Activities / Programmes

    • To provide programmes offering a wide range of experiences, opportunities and activities that reflect your needs, ideas and interests.

  • Giving Young People A Voice

    • You can expect to have your say and your ideas and suggestions will be taken seriously, respected and acted upon.

  • Recognition and Accreditation

    • To provide the opportunity to participate in programmes which offer accreditation for learning such as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Youth Achievement Award or similar.

  • Advice and Information

    • To provide access to a wide range of relevant information and advice on issues that are important to you.

  • Personal Development

    • Try to make sure that you have fun, as well as learning what you want to learn.

  • Youth Workers – Personal Qualities

    • Treat you equally regardless of race, religion, sex, sexuality, age, ability, or what you look like.

  • What Youth Workers Do

    • Be able to deal with confidential issues with respect and sensitivity.

  • Buildings / Provision

    • Provide a variety of meeting places that are safe, friendly, suitably equipped and properly staffed.
