Books

Bookcase

There are over 600,000 books available for loan in various formats within Dudley Borough Libraries, ranging from popular fiction for adults and children to study material.  We also stock special collections of books such as Quick Reads titles, LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transexual), parenting collections and graphic novels.

In addition there are books in community languages such as Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Gujerati and Bengali, as well as collections of French, Spanish, German and Italian novels.  You can check with your library to see what they have in stock, or you can search online.

Playaways

Some libraries stock Playaways.  These are self contained books loaded on to a small matchbox sized device.  Perfect to take away on holiday or long journeys, as all you need is a battery and headphones.  Both adult and childrens titles are available.  Download the Playaway instruction guide below to see how easy they are to use.  Remember they are free to borrow so why not try one today?

Donations and Free Materials

If you wish to donate items to the library, please read the guidelines below.

Dudley Libraries will accept donated materials providing they meet our selection criteria.

The following conditions apply to all donated materials:

  • We reserve the right to accept, reject, sell or otherwise dispose of donated materials
  • We are unable to inform donors of the usage patterns of items added to stock
  • Acceptable items will be placed in the most appropriate library in the Borough.  Items may be moved to other libraries, or disposed of at a later date.
