Poetry Workshops

We often work with schools and run various activities.  Poets, Charlie Jordan and Matt Windle ran some workshops with students from Castle High school.  Here are some poems created by the students.

Hmmm chocolate what can I say?
It tingles my tongue everyday.
Chocolate cake will start a riot,
Eat too much and you’ll need a diet!

Dark, milk or even white,
Eat it in the day or even at night!
Smarties, After-Eights, Galaxy’s a dream,
A great sensation though it may seem!

That chocolate sensation you’ll find in every nation,
It’ll drive you mad with a tingling temptation!
Chocolate, chocolate, I love Ben and Jerry’s,
The orange is mine so forget about Terry’s!

Hmmm chocolate what can I say?
The mouth watering taste I get everyday!
Hmmm chocolate in my mouth,
Goes North and comes out South!

Chocolate, a creamy, smooth sensation,
Wouldn’t share even with my relation.
White, milk, dark and bubbles,
Makes me forget all my troubles.

Luxurious, frozen, powdered or hot,
Disgusting? Ermmm…I think not!
Chocolate buttons, dairy milk,
Galaxy as smooth as silk.

Charlie Bucket won the lot,
All the others deserved what they got.
Oompa Loompa’s work all day,
In return they get to stay.

Minstrels, Maltesers, Milky Way,
I could eat them every day.
Dark chocolate, milk or white,
I could eat them day or night.

Rolo, Toffee Crisp, Kit Kat, Sensation,
I could never resist the temptation.
Smarties, Freddo, Magic Stars,
None of those compare to Mars.

Time Out and After-Eight,
Time for chocolate is never too late.
Snickers, Galaxy, Buttons, Twix,
These are chocolates I like to mix.
Minstrels, Maltesers, Milky Way,
I could eat them every day.
Dark chocolate, milk or white,
I could eat them day or night.

Galaxy, Twix, Mars and Twirls,
Chocolate’s better than teenage girls.
Chocolate, chocolate someone’s imagination
Chocolate, chocolate now a creation.

Chocolate, chocolate what a wonderful creation,
For me it’s a whole new exploration
Lion, lion they surely scare my brother, Zion.

Chocolate, chocolate, great sensation,
Too much can cause constipation.
Fredo, Fredo, is a lovely treat,
All the more for me to eat.

Mars, Mars, next to earth,
The more you eat the bigger your girth.
After-Eights, lets not debate about my weight,
Just because I like them, please don’t hate.

Galaxy, Boost, Kit kat and Twix,
I gotta get my chocolate fix.
Chocolate, chocolate is made from cocoa,
It tastes so good that I go loco.
Cadbury, Nestle, a great sensation,
The chocolate fix is sweeping the nation.

Aero, Fudge, Revels and Mars,
Make some fantastic chocolate bars.
I also like how its made.
From the fairness of fair-trade.
Everyone likes fruit ‘n’ nut.
From big estate to tiny hut.
From hard to soft, dark to light,
And different colours, black and white.
I like anything with a chocolate hint,
From ice-cream to pizza, orange and mint

I’ve got words as big as my belly after a Chinese.
I’ve got words a sweet as honey is to bees.
I’ve got ideas like a ball.
I’ve got ideas about being tall.
I dream about playing for United.
I dream about being knighted.
I love getting money.
I love thinking about my dream honey.
I like those fast sports cars.
I like drinking it up in the bars.
I think about what my life will be.
But now that’s for me and for you to see.

I’ve got words as soft as a memory foam bed.
I’ve got words as heavy as boots of lead.
I’ve got words from my imagination.
I’ve got words for inspiration.
I’ve got words lighter than air.
I’ve got words as bright as a flare.
I’ve got words as fast as light.
I’ve got words that are filled with might.
I’ve got words as slow as a snail.
I’ve got words as sharp as a nail.

I’ve got words as soft as candy-floss,
Springy as springs and as green as moss.
I’ve got words as big as Burj Khalifa in the city of Dubai,
There are more than 200 floors reaching for the sky.
I’ve got words as pure as my blood,
Distrusting them could cause a flood.

I’ve got words bigger than a house,
I’ve got words smaller than a mouse.
I’ve got words colder than a shoulder,
I’ve got words harder than a boulder.
I’ve got words sweeter than a Super Seb free kick,
I’ve got words sharper than a stick.

I’ve got words… as sweet as my sister,
And as big as the London eye.
As soft as my fluffy pillow,
I’ve had for years gone by.

I’ve got words…
that are always singing
With all the texts I send -
My phone never stops ringing!

I’ve got words…
Bigger than my voice
So what I say
That’s always my choice.

I’ve got words…
As big as my dream to be a world famous singer
Just a few years away,
It’ s on the tip of my finger…

I’ve got words…as sweet as candy-floss.
I paint my words on the page – not matt, pure gloss
The words scorch the paper, red hot as an Indian’s war paint
Some will warm the heart, some will make the weak-hearted faint.

Words as cold as boy’s hands, after snowballing each other.
Words as harsh as brother, turning against brother.
The words all work together, like a well-oiled team
Then, linger in your mind, soft as a half-remembered dream.
