Dudley Libraries Acceptable Use Policy
By using the computers you are agreeing to be bound by the terms of this agreement. Please make sure that you read and understand it. You may also wish to download the Internet access policy (Adults/Children and Young people) from the main Policies Page.
If you need help please ask.
Acceptable Use Policy
Dudley Libraries provides access to a wide range of resources including those available from the Internet in its role as a provider of information for many purposes.
Before using the computers or public WiFi you will have to read and agree to the acceptable use policy. This informs you what is expected from you, what the council’s responsibilities are, and what may happen if you do not follow these conditions.
You must use your own library card number to log in to public WiFi or a library computer. You may not connect any portable device to the council’s power supply. Customers should act in a manner that is considerate to others
Inappropriate Use
Internet access is filtered and monitored to block inappropriate or illegal websites or pages. Children and young people have stricter levels of filtering than adults. Permission of parents or guardians is required before children can use the library’s computers. Parents or guardians are expected to supervise their children’s Internet use.
You should not access web pages or websites that involve:
- Illegal material or activities
- Pornography
- Racism, hatred and intolerance
- Violence
- Security risks and computer misuse
Transmission of any material in violation of any laws is not allowed. Filtering is not 100 per cent reliable so library staff may remind customers who look at unacceptable material that they if they do not stop they will have their session closed down and will be prevented from using the library computers or WiFi service. Internet use is recorded, and records may be released to the appropriate authorities in the event of illegal misuse.
All adults and the Parent or Legal Guardian of children and young people under 16 are responsible for complying with current copyright and all other legislation.
