Volunteers

Volunteers play a key role here at DALHS. They contribute a great deal to our service, working a total of 1518 hours between 2009 and 2010.

Volunteers help us to achieve our aims by:

  • Preserving historical documents relating to the borough

  • Helping the public make better use of the service

  • Promoting the service

At DALHS we have two main types of volunteers. The first are those undertaking work experience placements with us. These are normally students of school and graduate age. In these placements students help us by working on the front desk, dealing with customer enquiries, retrieving documents, indexing and cataloguing documents.

The second type of volunteer often works with us over a longer period of time, helping with the day to day running of the service. There are four main ways that these volunteers help us in the work we do. Find out more by clicking on the links below or e-mail the Volunteers Co-ordinator to get involved today.
