The Red House Glass Cone by night

Red House Glass Cone

The Cone lies in the heart of the Stourbridge glassmaking industry. Built at the end of the 18th Century the Cone was used for the manufacture of glass until 1936 and is now one of only four left in the United Kingdom. Reaching 100 feet into the sky, the Cone enclosed a furnace around which men made glass for 140 years.

The site is now a busy heritage site hosting exhibitions, events, children's activities, tours, a programme for schools, live glassmaking and craft studios and workshops for rent.

Broadfield House Glass Museum

Situated in the historic Stourbridge Glass Quarter, Broadfield House Glass Museum has a magnificent collection of British glass, much of it made locally, dating from the 17th century up to the present day. Also featuring a hot glass studio on site, a varied programme of temporary exhibitions and events, and fun activites for all the family.

Glass Feasibility Study

Dudley Council's aspiration is to develop an enhanced museum service by creating an improved visitor attraction based in the heart of the historic glass quarter.

Any plans for the future of the glass museum will be subject to a far reaching feasibility study and full and open consultation. Our intention is not to either downgrade or move the collection out of the borough.

Museum on the Move

The Museum on the Move is an interactive, multi-sensory museum exhibition on a bus that can visit community venues and events.  It is part of a collaborative project with museums across the Black Country and Staffordshire, funded by Renaissance West Midlands.

The JAM Club

JAM Club is a programme of activities especially for Juniors at Museums. Workshops and other fun events are organised for children during the school holidays and are based at the three museums run by Dudley Council. We also run storytelling sessions, family craft activities and explorer backpack tours.
