Dudley Museum & Art Gallery now combines permanent collections of art, geology and fossils with contemporary exhibitions, local interest shows and hands-on exhibitions related to the school curriculum.
Return of the Dinosaurs
Discover the story of the dinosaurs, with giant dinosaur skeletons, small fossils and life size models. There’s a free trailand children’s activities as well as a huge projection screen anda changing range of items as new loans are made to the museum.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of local football star Duncan Edwards, this new gallery will house the museum’s extensive collection of memorabilia as well as featuring information on other local sporting stars such as jumper Joe Darby.
The museum’s popular exhibition continues throughout 2008. It uses graphics, artefacts, theatrical sets and hands-on exhibits to explore the worldof Ancient Greece. A Greeks school session is available.
An exhibition of contemporary quilting. If you thought that quilts were all about padded blankets for beds it is time to think again. These are quilts in a multitude of fabric types, many made specifically for this exhibition.
On display a cross section of the Silurian and Carboniferous fossils of the region. You can gaze at the sheer number of different types of creature to be found as fossils in the locality.
