The Dudley Rock & Fossil Festival will take place on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September 2009 at Dudley Concert Hall and Dudley Museum & Art Gallery on St. James's Road, Dudley. It will be open from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.
Exhibitors from the world of geology and special events including superb fossil and crystal displays, gems and cut stones, jewellery, face painting, trilobite races and lots of craft activities for children.

Baryonyx meaning "heavy claw", referring to its large claw (Greekbarus meaning 'heavy' and onyx meaning 'claw' or 'nail') was a carnivorousdinosaur discovered in clay pits just south of Dorking, England. The major part of the skeleton of a juvenile specimen was found in England. It has been dated to the Barremian period of Early CretaceousPeriod, around 125 million years ago.
