Giftware at Broadfield House Glass Museum The Gift Shop sells a range of glassware, priced from 5p to £500. Due to continuous turnover of stock, items available may vary from those described here. However, there is always a range of contemporary studio glass, 19th and 20th century antique glass, and small gifts available.
Local-based glassmaker Helen Millard produces stemware and tableware in contemporary colours, as well as a range of paperweights. Helen is currently teaching at the International Glass Centre in Brierley Hill and also produces unique pieces of engraved and cameo glass. Anthony Wassall, formerly of Hothouse Glass now working free-lance, produces a range of air-twist stemware in jewel-like colours. A fun range of animal stemware is made by Suffolk Studio Glass, based in Suffolk since 1981 and renowned for quality craftsmanship. A variety of tableware and scent bottles are available by Andrew Potter, of Wiltshire.
The Gift Shop stocks paperweights, including limited editions, by renowned Scottish paperweight-maker, William Manson. William was trained by the legendary Paul Ysart while working at Caithness Glass and now runs his own family business in Perth. New to the paperweight range is a selection of weights from Phoenix. The Phoenix Paperweight company has been formed by ex-workers of the Perthshire paperweight factory, following its closure in 2002.
Langham Glass, founded in Norfolk in 1979, produces a colourful range of animals, birds and fish in various sizes. All the designs are made under the direction of Paul Miller. We stock an amazing selection of spiders, beetles, ants and other bugs made by Beard Glass Sculptures. David Beard began his career as a scientific glassblower. He now produces these decorative lampwork animals from his base in Barnstaple, North Devon.
Drop earrings and pendants by Sue Shaw come in a range of pretty colours, while some unusual jewellery by Sarah Broadhead Riall features enamelled glass wound in sterling silver. Eryka Isaak produces pendants and glass hangings using copper and other metal inclusions to give her work a distinctive look.
Malcolm Sutcliffe produces ornamental bowls and dishes featuring whales, polar bears and elephants. Malcolm has a studio based in Cornwall where he makes and designs all his own glass, assisted by his wife Jean. Allister Malcolm was the third holder of the Scholarship Studio and now trades locally, producing innovative and functional pieces. We also stock an exciting range of studio glass by Blowzone. Blowzone is another locally based company and is now one of the country's leading glass studios. Imaginative designs are produced using a variety of hot and cold decorative techniques.
Other ranges for sale include iridescent vases and ornaments by Isle of Wight Glass, handmade metal and glass dishes by Gill Hobson from Lincolnshire, unusual handmade fused glass clocks by Armstrong Design, coloured glassware by Gillies and Jones of North Yorkshire, and ornaments by Red Hawk Studio.
We also stock beautiful glass pens, glass marbles of various sizes and many colours, china mugs, postcards and handmade cards. A range of small glass gifts produced by Suffolk Studio Glass includes swizzle sticks, thimbles, lucky pigs, sweets and miniature animals.
