Blood & Bones - Solo exhibition by Patricia Niemann

3 March – 5 August 2012

The human body and its life and death has fascinated artists of all times. This exhibition gives an insight into the work of a maker, who works across art forms.

Patricia Niemann, originally a goldsmith, is interested in human fears, anthropology, theatre and all forms of body adornment - especially objects that change the silhouette of the wearer. Much of her inspiration is drawn from working in the remote North Highlands, with its wilderness, wide open spaces, the deteriorating and forming effects of the harsh weather and funeral archaeology.

On show will be unusual jewellery in precious metals and hot glass, as well as glass objects, textiles and also drawing, which is fundamental to her practice.

Back to the Future

18 August 2012 to 27 January 2013

The exhibition seeks to explore the world renowned glass collections and archives in Dudley Borough and show how inspiring these collections are to contemporary West Midlands glassmakers/designers.

Glass Detectives

1 January - 31 December 2012

How do you identify a glass object?  How old is it?  Who made it?  How was it made?

Become a glass detective with this special exhibition, which will introduce you to all the tips and clues that curators and collectors use when identifying a piece of glass.  Including a display on ‘Fakes, Forgeries and Reproductions’ and hands-on exhibits revealing different techniques, together with a challenging quiz, this exhibition will educate and entertain the whole family.
