3 April - 8 August
The
Museum has invited thirty leading glass artists, all of whom have had
connections with the Museum during its thirty-year history, to exhibit
their work.
Amongst the
artists taking part are Diana Dias-Leão, Helen Millard and Harry Seager,
who all held solo shows at the Museum; David Reekie and Bruno
Romanelli, two of twelve artists who took part in the Millennium
Commissions; and David Prytherch who created the Glass Dance windows for
the Museum’s pavilion in 1994.
Also
included are some of the many artists who have demonstrated their
talents at the Museum, such as bead-maker Pauline Holt,
paperweight-maker William Manson, wheel-engraver Katharine Coleman,
stipple-engraver Doug Burgess, and glassblower Bob Crooks.
Some
former occupants of the Hot Glass Studio are also featured, including
the very first residents, Okra Glass, as well as Blowzone, Mark Locock,
LoCo Glass, Susan Nixon and Sam Sweet, and current resident artist
Allister Malcolm.
All of
the artists have provided a personal statement about their relationship
with the Museum. These reveal the variety of ways that the Museum has
interacted with and supported contemporary glassmakers over the years.
The
photo gallery below shows some of the exhibits as well as photos of the
special opening event on Saturday 3 April, which marked the Museum's
30th anniversary.
