The Education and Access Policy of the Museum links to the national, regional and local agendas and aims to maximise the potential of the collections and services to encourage access for all and learning opportunities in the widest sense.
National and Regional Context
The Departments for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Education and Employment (DfEE) have recently released their vision for museum and gallery education. Entitled 'The Learning Power of Museums' it explains that:
'Our vision for the new Millennium is of museums inspiring & supporting a learning society as they reach out to the widest possible range of audiences…
The Government is committed to seeing the learning power of museums fully exploited & will continue to play its part to help bring that about'.
