At the Cone you can:

 

  • Take a self guided tour through the glassworks exploring the underground passages and tunnels which have not previously been open to the public. A spiral staircase allows you to walk up through the core of the glass cone onto a viewing platform where you can marvel at the scale and enormity of this amazing structure.

 

  • Use our free audio guide to tell you about the history of the glassworks, the characters from the industry and learn about the magical process of glassmaking.

 

  • Watch glassmaking demonstrations weekends 1.30pm-3.30pm and pre-booked group tours on request.

 

  • Visit our temporary exhibitions which showcase the talents of local artists exhibiting in a variety of media.

 

  • Drop in to one of the on-site craft studios to watch artists at work or place a commission for a unique gift. Contact reception on 01384 812750 to check studio is open.  New businesses recently moved onto site on the upper floor: Glen Callum Associates  www.autojobsonline.co.uk www.glencallum.co.uk (recruitment consultants, automotive and industrial sectors) and Born Communications www.borncommunication.co.uk (creative media studio).

 

  • Shop in the Cone gift shop which sells a wonderful range of products including jewellery, blown glass and kiln-formed pieces.  There is also an inspirational range of gifts, books and novelty toys for children. 

 

  • The Stuart Crystal Gift Centre - we regret to advise that the Stuart Crystal Gift Centre is now closed.

 

  • Relax in the Crystal Tearooms under new management.  Open 7 days a week selling refreshments,  a new range of fresh sandwiches and paninis.  Delicious selection of home-made cakes and pastries, scone with preserve and cream plus much more.

 

  • Join in the children's holiday activities with free activity trails around the site and the JAM Club which runs craft sessions for 6-11 year olds.
