Himley Hall

Himley Hall, situated between Kingswinford and Wombourne, started life in the 18th century when a medieval manor house on the site belonging to the Earl of Dudley was demolished to make way for a great Palladian mansion. The 180 acres of grounds were designed by Capability Brown to include a great lake fed by a series of waterfalls from a higher chain of smaller pools.
 

Parks in the borough

The Parks are open everyday with free access, in most cases there are car -parking facilities. They also offer a range of recreational facilities.
 

Parks Activities

Utilise the five parks to increase community physical activity levels, improve, general mobility and optimise opportunities for social gathering.
 

Liveability

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has created a Liveability fund of £89 million. Throughout the country, there are twenty seven pilot authorities in receipt of this money. Dudley Council is one of these and has been awarded £3.4 million over three years for its project called Improving Parks for People.
 

The Leasowes Project

The Leasowes is situated in Halesowen on the southern edge of the West Midlands urban conurbation. It is a 57-hectare public park containing the remains of one of the most important and influential landscapes of the 18th century.
 

Nature Reserves

The borough has four nature reserves, all designated for their important features. They are open 7 days a week.

Grazing Land

The council owns a number of sites within Dudley Council which it lets for horse grazing. Grazing land is only offered on a 364 day licence agreement.
 

Play Facilities

The Council currently has 52 playgrounds throughout the borough and is responsible for their inspection and maintenance. Most play areas are dog proof, accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs and provide for children up to 11 years.
 
A small number of play areas have facilities for teenagers.
