Walk Fit, Green Fit and Buggy Fitness

 
Dudley Council and Dudley Primary Care Trust have put together a programme which provides a fun, safe, supported and social way to exercise through walking. The scheme is made up of three activities - Walk Fit, Buggy Fitness and Green Fit - all of which allow participants to get fit, have fun and make new friends.
 
Walk fit
 
Cotwall End Valley
This is a easy to moderate weekend walk through the beautiful wooded valleys of Cotwall End on the first and third Saturday of each month for 1 hour. Meeting point is Brockswood Animal Sanctuary car park.
 
Leasowes area
This weekly walk follows the park’s footpaths over varying terrain taking in impressive views of the local area taking place every Monday, 10am for 1 hour.
 
Meeting point at the wardens base, Leasowes Park, off Mucklow Hill.
 
On the following dates, 2 June, 7 July, 4 August, 4 September these weekly walks will be replace by extended walks (see the Walk Fit brochure below).
 
Saltwells area
A weekly walk through the ancient woodland of Saltwells Nature Reserve. The walk leader shares his extensive knowledge of local history. A shorter 40 minute walk of easy intensity runs at the same time as the longer session for people building their fitness. Both walks round off with tea and biscuits at the wardens base.
 
Meeting point is the car park off Coppice Lane, Saltwells Lane, Quarry Bank at 10am every Friday for 1 hour or 40 minutes.
 
On the following dates, 13 June,19 July, 15 August and 12 September extended walks will replace these Friday walks (see the Walk Fit brochure below).
 
Himley walks
Every Tuesday a moderate walk through the grounds of Himley Park for 1 hour meeting at The Café, Himley Park.
 
For people who want to push themselves a little harder, this group also
runs extended for 90 minutes walks on 17 June, 22 July and 26 August.

Shorter Walks for Beginners
 
Homer Hill Park
A gentle weekly walk aimed at anyone who wants to improve their fitness by walking along the flat grassed areas in Homer Hill park. Walks take place Mondays (except Bank Holidays) from 9.30am for between 30 and 40 minutes. Meeting point is the park entrance, top of Homer Hill Road.
 
Feldon Lane, Halesowen
A walk for beginners wanting to improve their health and fitness through walking. The 30 minute walk takes place every Tuesday at 12.30pm. Meeting point is the entrance to Feldon Lane Clinic, Halesowen.
 
Green fit
 
Mary Stevens Park
Green fit involves exercising outdoors. In addition to walking, the sessions include circuits, weights and jogging. This weekly session is suitable for all ages and levels of
fitness, and is great fun. Green Fit takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.30am for 45 minutes meeting at the Main gates, Mary Stevens Park,
South Road, Stourbridge.
 
Buggy fitness
Buggy Fitness is a programme for adults with babies or young children in buggies which includes walking, green exercise and a refreshment break where adults can socialise and children play. Buggy Fitness has been specifically designed with parents and toddlers in mind, offering them the opportunity to have a chat with other mums, dads and grandparents along the route.
 
Feldon Lane Clinic, Feldon Lane, Halesowen
A two hour session starting at 2pm on Tuesdays for parents and grandparents with babies in buggies. It’s fun and social, incorporating a walk to Hurst Green Park.
