King George V Wordsley Park in Dudley has royal connections. Part of the park is an independent charity and registered as King Georges Field and forms part of the National memorial to his late Majesty King George V. An critical part of the conditions for this is that the land is to be preserved for public recreation. This park also displays ornate gates, displaying the Heraldic Panels informing everyone of the existence of King George’s Field. The right panel depicts a unicorn and the left hand side a lion. These gates are located at the formal entrance opposite Barnett Lane.

The park is 7ha and is located close to the Wordsley Green shopping centre. The park has extensive recreational facilities, including tennis, football and bowls along with, many areas of managed flower beds and grass, over its sweeping landscape. The park has large areas of open flat grass, ideal for team games, along with smaller shaded and un-shaded areas perfect for picnics and leisure activities. There are some interesting trees in the park, including Cedars and Monkey Puzzles. Of interest to children is, from this park, a whale's tail which can be seen in one of the adjacent school grounds. The park offers a selection of managed pathways, making walking an optimal choice, for all individuals within the community.

Friends of King George V Park

 
Wordsley Park has an active Friends Group Friends of Wordsley Park. The group formed with aims of getting local people back into the park to enjoy it for sport and recreational pastimes. The group aim to promote a greater awareness of the benefits of using public parks. They have worked hard to improve both the environment and the facilities within the park. Projects include repair work, to the old coach house, a holiday play scheme, provision of bins and seating benches.
