Dudley Canal Societies

Dudley Canal Trust always welcome new members to its ranks. Membership privileges include free trips in to Dudley Canal Tunnel and Limestone mines, newsletters, 'The Legger', per year, social evenings where guest speakers talk on a wide range of subjects, the opportunity to help save our industrial heritage and the knowledge that they're joining a friendly organisation that continues to make a positive contribution to the waterways of Britain.

The restoration potential for the Lapal canal was formally identified in 1990 when a group of inland waterway enthusiasts formed the Lapal Canal Trust (LCT). Their vision was that the use of modern engineering methods and materials makes it entirely feasible to reclaim this missing link between Hawne Basin and Selly Oak, via the long-disused but hugely-intriguing Lapal Tunnel. Furthermore, the Lapal restoration project is unique in having two heritage sites very near to the canal, at either end of the tunnel, which would also benefit from revived and improved access.
