Events 2009
Himley Hall is a commanding 18th Century building set amongst 180 acres of 'Capability' Brown landscaped parkland. Once the family home to the Earls of Dudley and host to royalty and high society, today it offers contemporary art and craft exhibitions during spring and summer, as well as prestigious conference facilities and guided tours. The Hall also provides a glamorous setting for civil wedding ceremonies and receptions and other special occasions.
Himley Park is now a premier events venue playing host to a variety of outdoor events from garden plant fairs and classic vehicle shows to the breathtaking Himley Fireworks display. Visitors may participate in golf, pitch and putt, fishing, orienteering, sailing or just simply a peaceful stroll around the park and picnic. The park is now visited by over 200,000 visitors each year.

First & Second Gather Sat 16 May – Sun 21 June
Annual exhibitions of work of this year’s graduates and former students of the International Glass Centre, Dudley College. First Gather highlights the latest examples of work from the disciplines of hot glass, lamp working, kiln glass, stained glass and cold glass work. Second Gather shows samples of the excellent work being produced in studios around the country, mostly as a direct result of studying in at the International Glass Centre.
Ballgowns in the Ballroom Sat 27 June – Sun 6 Sept
By popular demand! A dazzling collection of ballgowns from the world of films and TV, on display in the former ballroom of the Earls of Dudley. See the fabulous coral dress worn by Keira Knightly in ‘The Duchess’ and adore the cerise trailing gown worn by Lara Flynn Boyd in ‘Land of the Blind’.

A full season of gentle guided walks around the Himley Estate. Learn about its fascinating history and links with Edward VIII. Free event but pre-booking essential on 01384 817817. Why not picnic lunch in the park after the 21 June and 9 August walks and enjoy the free band concert in the afternoon on the Hall lawns?
Fishing at Himley! Sat 13 June 7.00 am
The new fishing season opens on the great pool, one of the best coarse pools in the Midlands. Perch, roach, bream, carp on offer with new stocks of tench, introduced in October 2008
Midsummer Walk Sat 20 June 10.30 am – 12.00 noon
A gentle guided walk around the Himley Estate with Himley Park’s Senior Warden, exploring some of Himley’s fascinating history and with the opportunity to visit the Earl of Dudley’s Memory Garden at the end of the walk. Free event but pre-booking essential on 01384 817817. Small admission charge into the memory Garden.

The only opportunity in the year to view the evocative Earl of Dudley’s private Memory Garden last resting place of ‘Gertie’ Millar, 2nd wife of the second Earl together with the 3rd Earl of Dudley, once a close friend of the Duke of Windsor. Kid’s Under 5’s Day Fri 26 June 10.00 – 3.00 pm
Specifically for under 5 years old, five hours of fun with children’s funfair … and of course the now famous ‘Himley Beach’, 120 tons of play sand, the biggest beach this side of Blackpool! Admission £3.00 per person, under 2’s free, Family ticket £10.00 (2 adults & 2 ch)

Croquet 'Have a Go' Open Day Sat 27 June 11.00 am - 2.00 pm
Himley Croquet Club offering the chance to all visitors to have a go at this traditonal English sport, just turn up and play!
British Armed Forces Day Sunday 28 June
A concert by the Mercian Military Band, beating of the retreat by the Halesowen Marching Band competition, displays from the Territorial Army and a military vehicle display are just some of the attractions at this new special day in the calendar to celebrate British Armed Forces
