Combined Authority Benefits for Dudley

devo deal 1

A huge £8billion deal which will help bolster more public transport, jobs, investment and housing in Dudley than ever before is hailed a monumental achievement by Dudley Council.

The government and council leaders have put pen to paper to formally agree a devolution deal.

It will trigger millions of pounds worth of investment in transport, jobs, training, housing and much more in Dudley.

Projects in the borough include £699 million investment into the proposed Midland Metro extension from Brierley Hill to Birmingham. The move will not only link the borough up with the existing light rail system, but also the Birmingham hub of HS2, paving the way for links to job opportunities and investment from the south.

The deal also includes money to bring brownfield sites back to use for housing or employment and will pave the way to open up funding opportunities for new housing, education and wider public service reform.
