Fairtrade Christmas

Roll up, roll up, it’s a Fairtrade Christmas thanks to a generous donation to the Mayor’s charities by Stourbridge Fairtrade.

Stourbridge Fairtrade has donated a delicious hamper that’s jam packed with Fairtrade treats in aid of the Mayor’s Charities. This is the fifth year that the campaign group has made the generous donation to both raise money and raise awareness of the importance of Fairtrade.

The campaign group which has been running since 2001 group, campaigns to promote Fairtrade and increase understanding of its importance, easy availability and competitive pricing. As a Fairtrade Council, Dudley is keen to support Fairtrade initiatives and takes part in promoting the annual fairtrade fortnight each year.

Mayor of Dudley, Cllr Mohammed Hanif said:

“Stourbridge Fairtrade continues to be supportive of Mayoral charities while never losing sight of their ongoing campaign work to promote Fairtrade in Stourbridge and across the borough.

“I’m really grateful for this donation and I’m sure it will help to raise money for my three charities which directly benefit local people.”

The hamper will be raffled off at the Mayor’s charity coffee morning on Friday 9 December from 10am to 12.30pm with Stourbridge Fairtrade kindly donating their proceeds from the raffle to the mayor’s charities which are the Friends of Alfie Johnson (helping children with disabilities), Diabetes UK – Dudley group and Dudley CIL (physically and visually impaired with mental health and learning disabilities).
