11 - Surfs up in Stourbridge

Families can stay closer to home this summer and still have a splashing time at the Crystal Leisure Centre.

Five day intensive junior swimming lessons will run from Monday 25 to Friday 29 July, Monday 8 to Friday 12 August and Monday 22 to Friday 26 August.

Half hour classes will run from 9.30 and 10.30am from beginners with an improvers class at 10am for children who can swim up to 25m. The lessons are suitable for children aged four years and over and cost £25 per week.

Parent and toddler swimming sessions for tots aged four months to four years will be running on Thursday 28 July and 11 and 25 August. The half hour sessions will start at 2 and 2.30pm and will be led by a fully qualified instructor and include toys and water games. Each session costs £4.10 per child.

The leisure pool complete with slides, waves, bubble seat and rapids will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm including bank holiday Monday (29 Aug).  Youngsters can get into the summer holiday spirit with the bondi beat water disco every Friday afternoon from 3.30 to 6pm. The pools are open from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and from 8am to 6pm on Sundays. A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £14.

Councillor Khurish Ahmed, cabinet member responsible for leisure centres, said

These classes are a great opportunity for parents to introduce their little ones to the water in a safe and fun environment.

“Our toddler swimming lessons are always popular so I’d encourage anyone who is interested to book up as soon as possible.”
