Visitors will be transported back hundreds of years to the time of Alfred the Great in a local history talk later this month.
Visitors to Dudley Archives and Local History Centre can enjoy a lively talk by Max Keen about ‘Alfred the Great: A King who Rode Good Fortune’ on Thursday April 6.
As the only English monarch to be known as ‘the great’, Max will attempt to establish how much he owed his greatness to lady luck, while dressed in full costume, including chain mail, helmet, spear, shield, sword and double handed axe.
The talk begins at 7.30pm with refreshments available from 7pm. Admission is free to the friends of Dudley Archives and Local History Service and £2 for other visitors.
