28 - Council is seeking views on proposals to streamline waiting-list admission arrangements for schools

Dudley Council is calling for views on proposed changes to the operation of school admission waiting lists from 2019 onwards.

Currently waiting lists are only maintained for the autumn term following the allocation of places.  The consultation seeks views from parents and carers on extending the list until the end of the academic year.  This will mean that parents will not have to reapply to join the waiting list after just one term and will ensure that any places that become available are allocated in a fair and consistent manner.

Councillor Anne Millward cabinet member for children said:

“We want to make the admissions waiting list process as simple as possible for parents and carers. These proposed changes will streamline the rules around waiting lists and it will be a much clearer process for all.”

The proposed policy for community and voluntary controlled schools, along with the proposed policies of a number of Foundation, Voluntary Aided Schools and Academies, can be found at www.dudley.gov.uk/admissionsconsultation.

Any objections to the polices for Foundation, Voluntary Aided Schools and Academies, should be sent direct to the relevant school.  If you wish to object against the Council’s policy for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools, please use the relevant form contained within the consultation document.  The consultation period ends on 31 January 2018.
