30 - Arts and craft learners celebrate success

Arts and crafts learners in Dudley will be celebrating their achievements at an exhibition next month.

The group have learned and honed their skills through courses run by Dudley Council’s adult and community learning team with students attending classes including watercolours, acrylics, painting and drawing, pastels, photography, pottery, sculpting in stone, brass rubbing, mosaics, candle making, jewellery making and canal art.

Their two-day exhibition which runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 December will showcase their talents in polymer clay, pastels, painting and drawing, jewellery and mixed media art.

Alongside the artwork, visitors will also be able to purchase items made by the group including framed and unframed paintings, ornaments, jewellery and cards. 15% of all sales will go towards the Mayor of Dudley’s charities which are Dudley Mind, the YMCA Black Country Group and the Dudley branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The exhibition will be held at Brierley Hill Neighbourhood Learning centre in Hill street and will be open from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.

Councillor Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley said:

“The adult learners have really developed their skills through attending one of these courses, and this is reflected in the range of work at the exhibition.

“I’m really grateful to them for offering to donate a percentage of their sales to my charities, it’s a great way to find a unique Christmas gift which also benefits local people.”
