4 - Himley Hall wedding event

Couples planning to tie the knot can get inspiration from a free open day at Himley Hall this month.

The picturesque hall, which is licensed to hold civil weddings and partnership ceremonies, will open its doors on Sunday 15 October from 11am to 4pm.

Couples and their families can take a look around the historic venue where royal newlyweds once took their honeymoon.

Himley Hall has three rooms that are licensed for civil ceremonies. The Pink Room, which was once the Library of the Earls of Dudley, and the Green Room, originally the formal Dining Room, both overlook the hall’s terrace gardens with beautiful views towards the lake. The smaller Oak Room, the cosy wood panelled former billiard room of the Earls of Dudley has also become recently licensed and is ideal for intimate ceremonies.

There will be a chance for visitors to see the beautifully refurbished art-deco style North Wing, which once housed the Earl of Dudley’s swimming pool and cinema and is now used for wedding breakfasts and receptions.

Couples are also able to dine and celebrate their ceremony in Himley Hall in the historic, chic surroundings that the sensitive restoration of Himley has created.

Himley Hall offers a range of wedding breakfast menus from fully inclusive three course dinner packages to high quality buffet receptions and after wedding parties.   Himley Hall’s wedding co-ordinators and catering team will be available to discuss the options available to couples on the day. Registrars from the Staffordshire Registration Service will also be on hand to guide couples through the civil ceremony process at Himley Hall.

Admission to the open day event is free of charge but there is a small parking fee. Refreshments are available throughout the day.

Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member responsible for halls, said:

“The Wedding Open Day offers a unique opportunity for couples to see how Himley can look on their special day and gives them the time to discuss civil weddings and partnership ceremonies with the experienced team at Himley Hall.

“The rooms will be set out for both ceremonies and receptions so visitors won’t just have to rely on their imagination to see how stylish their wedding day could look, they’ll be able to see it for themselves.”

Full wedding packages for 2018 including the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening celebrations start from £5,510. For more information visit www.dudley.gov.uk or call Himley Hall and Park on 01384 817817.
