Free childcare for two year olds

Eligible parents are being urged to sign up to Time for Twos to receive up to 15 hours free childcare for two year olds.

The Dudley Council run scheme uses government funding to offer parents who meet set criteria free childcare, which can either be used in a nursery or pre-school setting or with a childminder during term time weeks.

The free hours are designed to ensure all children get valuable development opportunities in a setting where they can mix with other children.

Parents who receive certain benefits, have an income of less than £16,190 per year, or have a child with a disability or special educational needs may be eligible.

Councillor Anne Millward, cabinet member for children’s services, said:

“It’s important that families don’t miss out on these free 15 hours, as they’re a great benefit to the parents and children of our borough.  We’re confident an early introduction to a learning environment can help with a child’s development and communication skills, giving them the best start as they move onto school.  I’d urge anyone who thinks they may be eligible to get in touch and find out more.”
