People are being urged to sign up for a memory walk at Himley next month to raise cash for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler, has organised the fundraiser at Himley Hall & Park on Sunday October 8. He today called on people to sign up and take part.

The charity, which helps people with dementia, is one of three that the mayor is raising money for during his year in office.

Anyone can take part, with adults welcome to bring children and dogs with them. Walkers can choose to take either a two kilometre or six kilometre route around the picturesque parkland surrounding the historic Grade II-listed building.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler, said:

“It should be a great day out, a lovely walk around a beautiful park for a very worthy cause.

“The memory walks are suitable for people of all ages and abilities, including people living with dementia.

“It’s a great chance for families and friends to come together and raise cash, and I would urge people to get signed up and come and join us.”

Both walks will set off at 11am, with participants invited to meet at the park from 10am.

Children aged under 16 will need to take part with an adult who must have registered to take part. Dogs are welcome as neither route goes into the dog-free zone at the park.

An Alzheimer’s Society sponsorship form can be downloaded from www.alzheimers.org.uk/downloads/file/3441/sponsorship_form. Any monies raised can be paid directly to the Mayor’s Appeal Fund at https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/mayorofdudleycharities, using the reference “Memory Walk” in the personalised message box.
